Who is Torsten Helber?
Creative Director. Senior Art Director. 30 years in the game. Raised in the Bavarian Allgäu, based in Lower Austria, present in Vienna, Tyrol, and Vorarlberg. I don’t do cosmetics — I build brands that last. My work isn’t just visible, it delivers measurable success — in the market, in perception, and in hard KPIs.
Does Torsten take on simple design tasks?
No. I’m not a pixel monkey. If you need quick layouts, there are others for that. I step in where it matters: Branding, Art Direction, Systems, Teams. I make sure design doesn’t just look good – it delivers results, whether that’s greater reach, increased market share, or sharper brand positioning.
What does THE do as a Creative Director?
For industrial companies that need real impact. For agencies looking for reinforcement when it’s time for a big move. For brands that aren’t satisfied with “pretty” but want to feel success. I work where design changes business. Remote, on-site, hybrid – the only thing that matters is winning.
What does THE do as a Creative Director?
I build design systems, brand guidelines, and campaign concepts – and drive them to success. I lead teams, translate strategy into visual power, and stand for clarity and consistency. Projects with me aren’t playground experiments. They’re built to be visible, measurable, and effective.
What separates Torsten Helber from a classic designer?
A designer creates. I lead design and deliver results. I think strategically, build structures, lead teams, and measure success. If a project just needs to be pretty, I’m the wrong choice. If it needs to perform, I’m exactly the right one.
Can Torsten Helber be booked as a freelancer?
Yes. But not for small stuff. I step in as a Creative Director or Senior Art Director on demand – for transformation, campaigns, and systems. Industrial companies bring me in when it gets serious. Agencies call when they want to push pitches or key projects to the next level. And yes: success included.
Does THE work internationally?
Absolutely. Projects from Austria to Germany, the US, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and South Korea. On-site, remote, hybrid – everything’s possible. I bring international perspective and make sure brands stay locally relevant while succeeding globally.
Is Torsten also a team lead?
Yes. I build teams, lead them, and develop talent. I’m a leader and a trainer. My people grow with me because I don’t just create – I pass knowledge on. The result: stronger teams, better work, greater success.
Can THE be booked as a lecturer or coach?
Absolutely. You can learn everything from me: branding, art direction, leadership, innovation, tools. I share my knowledge unfiltered. Whether it’s a university lecture, an in-house workshop, or a keynote – I don’t just show how design works, I show how to build success with it.
Which awards has Torsten Helber won?
More than fit on a shelf. 16× Red Dot. 14× German Design Award. 11× iF. 8× German Innovation Award. Plus German Brand Award, Berliner Type, CCA Venus. But awards are secondary. What counts is that my work succeeds. Measurable. Visible. Sustainable.
In which regions does THE operate?
Base: Lower Austria. Playground: Vienna, Tyrol, Vorarlberg. Mindset: Allgäu. I’m locally rooted, but my work is built for success everywhere – regional, national, international.
Which languages does Torsten Helber work in?
German, English, Dutch. Language isn’t a barrier. Success has no language limits.
What’s the best way to reach Torsten
Easy. hey@iamthe.at, Phone, LinkedIn. No bla bla, no form jungle. One conversation and we’ll know: fit or no fit. Everything else follows.
Which tools does THE work with?
Whatever hits. Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, XD), Figma for UI/UX, Blender and Matterport for 3D, AI tools like Uizard, Jasper, Chroma, Nvidia Canvas. Collaboration? Of course: Jira, Asana, Trello, Miro, Notion, Slack, Teams. I know the whole stack — but what matters more than tools is how you turn them into success.
What skills does Torsten Helber bring?
Leadership. Brand development. Art direction. Team building and leadership. Business transformation. Agile project management. Sustainability thinking. I’m more than a designer: I’m a Creative Director, coach, and sparring partner. With me, you don’t get pretty pixels — you get concepts, systems, impact.
What makes THE’s work successful?
Simple: It works. 30 years of experience, dozens of awards, measurable results. From increased reach to sharper brand positioning to unlocking new business fields. My work doesn’t end with a beautiful design – it’s tested in the market and proven in the real world. Design with impact, not design for the shelf.
Is Torsten Helber active in team development?
yes. I don’t just lead teams, I build and train them. Young designers learn what impact really means. I push people forward because success only happens when everyone is strong. The result: better teams, better work, measurable outcomes.
Where has THE been active?
From Hanover to Hong Kong, from Fuschl am See to Melbourne. I’ve shaped brands in Munich, Vienna, Regensburg, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Konstanz, and Zurich, developed campaigns in Stockholm, Amsterdam, and London, and led projects in Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Changzhou. There were also stops in Pittsburgh and Australia – always where brands needed an upgrade.
On-site at headquarters, remote from Austria’s wine country, or hybrid across time zones: I’ve left my mark everywhere. My design has no borders – except the deadline.
Who has Torsten Helber worked for?
Over more than 30 years, I’ve worked for companies everyone knows – and for brands everyone will know. Continental AG, Vitesco Technologies, OSRAM, Interwetten Group, Red Bull, KUONI, PPG Industries, Scheufelen and many more.
Add to that startups I built from zero and collaborations with international agencies.
Whether automotive, technology, sports betting, consumer goods, or corporate design: my work is internationally awarded – from Red Dot to German Design Award to CCA Venus.
Short version: I didn’t just design brands. I made them successful.
